the kitchen is actually finished now - but I found this photo showing the floor in but the walls out ...
It seemed a long time before we got to this stage:
It really is finished now. The range hood (extractor fan) is fully installed (so it has a shiny cover) and now the benches are full with cooking stuff.
And it works ... like a real kitchen ... and there is a definite change in our eating and our meals.
YES!!! The heart of the home beats...how did you achieve the 'striped' wooden floor?
ReplyDeleteI have to come clean - its not real wood ... its actually a vinyl 'plank' ... It is heat fixed to the underflooring (which cost as much as the plank stuff) which means that you can lift individual bits if they get damaged = although they are supposed to be extremely hard wearing.
DeleteIt comes in a variety of 'looks' and, to be honest, we didn't realise that it had the weathered blue bits in it (or the fake borer holes) until it was in. I think it suits the house although M did wonder why we paid good money to make it look old ....
I have no idea about the environmental friendliness of the product :/ I just needed to get a floor in before the container arrived ....

(and I dont know which one we bought - although I could inform myself)
Well the advantage of the 'aged' look is: one we love age and we love the look, 2 it already looks old so you don't need to worry about it not looking perfect and new anymore, and 3 it doesn't show the dirt, light dirt, dark, or any tone in between and 4 it gives character and texture.
